One of the kids games we all used to play growing up was Pirate, or Treasure Island, or some sort of game like that. I remember drawing up a map and then hiding treasure, then sat back and watched my brother and his friends try and find it. It was fun. Now, here it is years later, and those types of games are still being used and played. But you would be surprised at how they are being played, and who the players are. Today’s Family First Site will show you the way.
The name of the site is called Treasure Hunt Adventures. For the uninitiated, a treasure hunt is a map-based puzzle that leads a person (or group of persons) to a prize or goal or treasure. The founders of this site have taken this old game, and turned it into a method of building teamwork and
The are teams and the must solve the puzzle. As in the workplace, smaller teams must succeed at their tasks before the entire company can reach its goal – opening the treasure-filled chest! Derived from the Scandinavian activity of Orienteering, where participants find flags in the woods with a map and compass, the Treasure Hunt uses a custom-made map of the conference center (indoors and out) that leads teams to trivia questions, riddles and group adventures.
These hunts are available all walks of life, from major corporations to schools, to private individuals as a party. The site describes all of the setup involved, how to contact and prepare for the hunt, and what the hunt is set to accomplish. From simple team work to a birthday party for a youngster, they cover all the bases.
It sounds like a lot of fun. I am going to refer this site to the director of our department for a summer activity for our department. Who knows, we may run into each other at the nearest desert island.
